Our Story

Empowering Marginalized Voices Since 2001

Founded by a group of professional women from Somalia’s minority groups, the Puntland Minority Women Development Organization (PMWDO) began as a grassroots initiative in Galkayo. Driven by a shared vision of dignity and equality, we’ve grown into a respected, women-led organization creating transformative change in underserved communities across Somalia.

Our Process

Steps to Lasting Community Empowerment

1. Engage

We begin by listening. Every intervention starts with a deep understanding of local needs and voices.

2. Design

Together with communities and partners, we craft inclusive, sustainable, and locally appropriate solutions.

3. Empower

We implement with care and train community members to own, manage, and sustain the results.

The Goal

Our Mission

To empower marginalized communities through inclusive programs in education, health, WASH, and protection. We are committed to delivering transformative services and long-term solutions that uphold dignity, strengthen resilience, and advance equal rights in Somalia.

The Outlook

Our Vision

To be a leading force in advancing equality, resilience, and inclusion for Somalia’s marginalized communities. We envision a future where all people—regardless of background—access education, healthcare, and opportunity in a society rooted in justice, dignity, and shared prosperity.
